 WELCOME!!

The Colorado Snowmobile Association was founded in 1970 as an opportunity to unite winter motorized recreationists across the state to enjoy their passion.  It has continued the tradition of family and fun for the last almost 40 years.  The association has also become the voice of organized snowmobiling to advance, promote and preserve the sport of snowmobiling through work with Federal and state land management agencies and local, state and federal legislators telling the truth about our sport.

WE NEED YOUR HELP TO CONTINUE TO HAVE A VOICE

In order to continue the work CSA is doing on behalf of the sport of snowmobiling in Colorado we do need funding.  Membership dues cover the expenses of running the association and not much else.  Travel to and from meetings, hiring consultants to help address land use issues, publishing and distributing educational publications, and sponsoring safety and avalanche classes require additional funds.

In 2009 CSA submitted comments on:

*The White River National Forest Travel Management Draft Plan

    *The North Routt Columbine By-Pass

*The Grizzly Creek winter project/Routt National Forest

*The San Juan Mountains Wilderness Act

*The Gunnison National Forest Travel Managment Draft Plan.

In addition we have participated in meetings with:

    *The White River National Forest

    *The Gunnison National Forest

    *The Routt National Forest

    *The San Juan National Forest

*Local offices of Congressmen John Salazar and Jared Polis.

These meetings keep CSA in the forefront and on top of decisions they are undertaking.

CSA reprinted the Wilderness Brochure this year.  This brochure has up-to-date details on what Wilderness is, what Wilderness is not and what management options public land managers and legislators have to protect what legitimately needs protecting.  To date we have distributed over 5,000 copies of the brochure all across the state.

Members of CSA travel each year to Washington DC to talk to Colorado's Congressional Delegation on behalf of snowmobiling in Colorado.  During the 2009 trip we spent an great deal of time educating the Congressional staffers on the detriment of the Hidden Gems Wilderness Proposal.

2009 DC Trip - meeting with Congressman Jared Polis

CSA has worked in concert with the Colorado Off Highway Vehicle Coalition (COHVCO) to protect the integrity of the State OHV and Snow Program funding.  Because of the large network of recreationists that COHVCO and CSA combined have, we have been able to stay the attempts to raid the programs.

CSA continues to partner with Colorado State Parks to provide over 3,000 miles of groomed and maintained winter trails all across the state with your registration fees.  While fees remain constant, costs to maintain trails continues to rise and the Snow Committee is charged with making sure the registration money is put in the right places to continue to assure winter trail opportunities for all winter trail users, motorized and non-motorized.

To continue to keep land access open, keep trails groomed, educate about Wilderness, educate about snowmobile safety and all the rest we endeavor to do, WE NEED YOUR HELP!

CSA is committed to being frugal and efficient with our funds.
