Montrose
Little Cimarron/High Mesa area
Trailhead at Auggie's corral 3 mi. south of Hwy 50 on county rd.# 864. Hwy jct. is 3.6 mi. east of town of Cimarron. From trailhead it is 8 mi. south to High Mesa turnoff and Johnson Park is 10 mi. south from trailhead. High Mesa Rd. is not groomed

Our grooming season does not start until December 15th, 2024, and that depends on snow conditions. We have no information on snow depth at this time.
Owl Creek Pass/Big Cimarron
Trailhead at Vista Point on county rd. 8 east of Ridgway area. County Rd 8 is 22 mi. south of Montrose on Hwy 550 and then Vista Pt. is 9 mi. east toward Owl Creek Pass on CR 8. Big Cimarron Trailhead is at Forest Boundary 18 mi. south from Hwy 50 on BigCimarron/Silverkack Rd. # 858 which is 23 mi. east of Montrose and 2.6 mi. east of Cimarron. Roads to both trailheads are usually plowed and there is parking at both spots. Owl Creek Pass Rd. is groomed from Big Cimarron/Silverjack end over Owl Creek Pass to Vista Pt.

Uncompahgre Plateau
Divide Rd., Hwy 90, Transfer Rd areas. Two trailheads on Dave Wood Rd. south of Montrose, one at Elk Mtn parking lot 22 mi. south, the other at Forest Boundary 18 mi. south. Groomed from Elk Mtn NW on Divide Rd to Houser Rd.; also NE on Hwy 90 toward Dry Creek; N on Transfer Rd. Trailhead on Transfer Rd. and on Hwy 90 not developed and roads to those trailheads are not plowed.
