Pagosa Springs

East Fork /Quartz Meadow
An obvious route approximately 8 miles long to Quartz Meadow turn and then 4 miles to the meadow which is a nice area to play. Trailhead: Take Highway 160 east approximately 9 miles from Pagosa Springs to the East Fork Access road sign (Forest Road 684) on the right side of the highway. The parking lot is 1/4 mile from Highway 160. The trail goes through posted private land, please stay on trail.

First Fork
This route is groomed when snow allows and is approximately 12 miles in length. It is a nice scenic ride without pulloffs. However West Monument Park Route and Horse Creek Route branch off of this route and they both have meadows to play in. West Monument branches off and is 4 miles of forest road with meadows to play in. Trailhead: Drive west from the intersection of Highway 160 and County Road 600 (Piedra Road). Turn north on First Fork Road (Forest Road 622). Trailhead is 1 mile north from Highway 160.

First Notch
This route is groomed when snow allows and is approximately 6 miles of forest road and 5 miles of trail to connect to Beaver Meadows (see San Jan Sledders Beaver Meadows Map). Bald Mountain branches off and is approximately 12 miles in length. This is an intermediate ride on a narrow route with a lot of meadows at the top. Trailhead: Take Highway 160 west from Pagosa Springs for 20 miles. After crossing the Piedra River, First Notch Road is on the North side of the highway between MM 121 and 120. Take a right on First Notch Rd (Forest Road 620) and drive about 1/4 mile to the parking area and trailhead is on your right.

Nipple Mountain/Porcupine
This route is approximately 10 miles long and winds through spruce and aspen forests with meadows and hills to play on with great views. Porcupine branches off of Nipple Mountain and is approximately 5 miles long. It is an easy access road with pine trees lining the route. Trailhead: From the intersection of Highways 84 and 160, drive south on Highway 84 one third mile. Turn north on Mill Creek Road. Drive 6 miles on Mill Creek Road to the parking area on your left. The trail goes east out of the parking lot.

Plumtaw/Four Mile
This route is approximately 21 miles long. An easy ride on a wide access road with pulloffs and stunning views. Four Mile Road branches of of this route and is approximately 4 mile long. Trailhead: From the center of Pagosa Springs, drive north on 5th Street. 5th Street will turn into Four Mile Road. Continue on Four Mile Road until it ends at a parking lot. This is the trailhead about 7 miles from town.

Toner Road/East Toner Road
Toner Road is a 6 mile fairly flat, easy ride. East Toner Road branches of of this route givining an additional 6 miles. Trailhead: From the intersection of Highway 160 and County Road 600 (Piedra Road), drive north 18 miles to the Sportsman Supply Store. The parking lot is just west of the store. The trail goes north on Forest Road 636.

Turkey Springs/Monument Park
This route is approximately 9 miles in length, with nice and easy riding on lots of logging roads to explore. Monument Park branches off of Turkey Springs. It is approximately 8 miles long and is an easy route with nice meadows. Trailhead: Go west on Highway 160 from Pagosa Springs to Piedra Road (County Road 600). Take Piedra Road until you come to the San Juan Forest. The parking lot is on the left hand side of the road past a cattle guard. The trail goes west out of the parking lot.

Wolf Creek
This route is approximately 20 miles long. At 10,978 ft. elevation, Wolf Creek Pass is known for the most snow in Colorado and offers season long snowmobiling. This can take you to Treasure Mountain, meadows, hill climbs and LOTS OF POWDER! It can be more difficult. Watch for potential slide and avalanche areas. Trailhead: Take Highway 160 east to the top of Wolf Creek Pass. Unload at the summit on the south side of Highway 160. There is ample parking. Please watch for heavy traffic in parking areas. Overnight parking is not allowed.

Other Information
Remember DO NOT PARK YOUR TRUCKS AND TRAILERS IN FRONT OF THE TRAIL HEAD. Be courteous to the other riders who also need to unload. There is plenty of parking both sides of the highway. If you have a CAMPER do not take up huge amounts of space park in a diagonal so there is room for other trucks and trailers.
